June 2026 Update: Age Restrictions for Memberships, Visits, and Group Events

We have added a new functionality in GymRealm Manager that gives gyms more control over who can purchase memberships, book visits, and register for group events.

With the new Age Restriction feature, memberships, visits, and group events can now be limited to customers within a specific age range.

More control over bookings and purchases

Gyms often offer services that are designed for specific age groups. For example, children’s classes may only be suitable for younger members, while student memberships may be intended for a specific age category.

With this new feature, you can now define age restrictions such as:

4+ years old
4–6 years old
Children only
Students or youth memberships
Adult-only services

This helps ensure that customers can only purchase or book services that are appropriate for their age.

Prevent incorrect bookings for children

One of the main benefits of this feature is preventing customers from booking children’s classes using the wrong profile.

For example, if a parent is booking a class for their child, the system can now check the age of the selected customer profile. If the profile does not match the age restriction for that class or group event, the booking will not be allowed.

This helps reduce mistakes, avoids confusion at check-in, and makes class management much easier for staff.

Apply restrictions to memberships, visits, and class bookings

Age restrictions can be applied individually to each type of membership, visit, or class booking.

This gives gyms full flexibility. You can choose which services need age control and which services should remain available to everyone.

For example, you can use age restrictions for:

Children’s memberships
Student memberships
Junior classes
Kids’ camps
Youth group events
Adult-only memberships or activities

Works across all booking and sales channels

The age restriction feature works across the main customer-facing booking channels and sales points, including:

Mobile application
Customer portal
Public schedule
POS

This means the same rules are applied consistently, whether the customer is booking online, purchasing through the portal, using the mobile app, viewing the public schedule, or buying directly at the POS.

A safer and more accurate booking process

By adding age restrictions, gyms can make sure that the right customers are booking and purchasing the right services.

This improves the experience for both customers and staff. Customers receive clearer booking rules, while staff spend less time correcting mistakes or checking whether a person is eligible for a specific membership, visit, or class.

The new Age Restriction feature is especially useful for gyms and sports centers that offer children’s programs, youth classes, student memberships, family activities, or age-limited events.
